Federal Crimes - The Basics

Federal crimes are created by federal statute and prosecuted by the United States Attorney's office.  Our list of federal crimes do not include regulatory violations are a separate issue and not discussed here. Many of these federal offenses duplicate state crimes.  It is possible to be prosecuted in both state and federal court for the same crime.  The Double Jeopardy rule does not apply.
